TIP: No Cost Decorating

Posted on June 23, 2016 at 8:15 PM

This is a tip that will cost you not one penny! really :)

Owning a small business keeps me busy, as a sole proprietor I have to be a "jack of many trades". One thing I do almost daily at the shop is re-arrange. I not only fill in the empty spots when a small item sells but also have to re-design the space to keep it looking fresh and interesting to my buyers. No one wants to walk into a shop, especially one we frequent often, finding that everything looks exactly the same as the last visit.

When I came home tonight from the shop I decided to vaccuum my sunroom, which also requires me to move the furniture around to get under each piece. Here's the free tip I promised, instead of putting the furniture back exactly the way I had it, I decided to move things around.

Walk into any room of your home and move things around, you will be surprised that the room takes on a whole new look without changing the paint color, furniture or anything! Yep it can be done it doesn't have to be all the furniture either. Sometimes just by putting a long table behind a sofa and set your lamp on it, some books and maybe a plant you already have, gives the room a different feel. Oh so you don't have a long sofa table, well how about putting your end tables together behind the sofa to create the same look, tables to low, just add something on the tables to give more height. By stacking up books or suitcases you can get the height you need. Look at your room with a different eye. Once you changed things around, wait till the next morning and look at the room again. The best part about this re-arrangement if you don't like it the next day, just put it back the way it was before. I do think that you will like what you did. Sometimes you just have to live with it a while, if you don't like it just re-arrange again :)
